Unitywater’s Liveable Communities Narangba Sewer Transport System – Balancing the needs of the community through Trenchless Technology
Michael Anderson, Rob Tredger, Mitch Sterling
Abstract
The Narangba Sewage Transport System (NSTS) project addresses the sewer trunk infrastructure challenges posed by the Moreton Bay Region Liveable Communities. It involves the construction of over 11km of sewer gravity mains, sewer rising mains, and new sewage pumping stations. The NSTS project's trenchless construction methods offer operational and construction benefits, reducing risks, minimizing community impacts, and enable the efficient expansion of wastewater infrastructure to serve the predicted growth in the Liveable Communities. This paper provides an overview of the proposed NSTS and focuses on two specific trenchless crossings: the Old Gympie Road Dual HDD and the Gravity Sewers in Mackie Road and Wheaton Street.
