The Economical and Environmental Benefits of Slurry Waste Handling

Craig Jones

Abstract

Improper handling of HDD slurry waste and construction fluids can result in operational downtime, expensive disposal costs due to liquid waste hauling and a negative environmental impact. BOS Solutions specializes in on site, solids and liquid separation of any mud or slurry type. By utilizing our new technology and patented process, our goal is to constantly provide a dry solid waste product and recycle fluid. BOS provides a clean, small footprint solution to manage mud systems and eliminate or reduce liquid waste hauling costs. The case studies discussed in the paper are below: • HDD Slurry Waste Dewatering – Tacoma LNG Mainline Expansion o Saved the client $127,000 on disposal and handling of liquid waste o Eliminated liquid waste hauling and disposal o Eliminated operational downtime associated with spent bentonite fluid • Centrifugal Solids Removal of Foundation Piling Fluid o Recycled piling fluids to eliminate the need for liquid disposal o Reduce settling tank capacity and footprint
