“Entering a new dimension! The first GRP-Liner DN 2000 cured with UV-Light worldwide”

Abstract

In the year 2020 IMPREG started with the planning and organization of an expanded product portfolio. Regarding the positive elements of curing for bigger diameter, the goals was to implement IMPREGLiner GL16 in the production and in the market worldwide. In the same with building up a new and improved impregnation line in Ammerbuch, Germany for liner up to DN 2000, the sales team for South Europe had contact with a customer in Italy for a real project and an impressive jobsite. The town of Reggio d’Emilia had the need of getting a rainwater pipe DN 2000 with length of 164 m in better condition. Because of the circumstance that the host pipe was under a building there was no possibility to dig the pipe. After several meetings with the, the installation company and IMPREG, the decision was fixed to reline this host pipe with a GRP-Liner cured with UV-Light. Parallel to the preparing of the jobsite the new equipment was tested in a very intensive way to be on the safe side that the liner will be cured over the complete wall thickness. After finishing all preparations and the production of the liner the jobsite started in March 2021. The great team work between the municipality, the installation company, the producer of the UV-unit and IMPREG the installation on the jobsite was a complete success. With this great experience it’s clear that such big diameter can be renovated with GRP-Liner and can be cured with UV-Light. The reduction of digging work and a much more shorter time schedule with UV-Light compared to digging the final goal was reached in addition – a much better and more efficient carbon foot print with UV-Curing.
