CSG Drilling and Well Servicing: Workforce 18 Month Outlook

Anthea Middleton

Abstract

In 2013 Energy Skills Queensland produced the 20 year workforce plan for the CSG to LNG industry in Queensland (2014 - 2034). This research identified that the CSG drilling and well servicing sector is likely to experience steady long term growth, with the workforce expected to peak at approximately 7,000 workers in 2026. Following on from this research, with the impacts of recent changes in drilling technology and the projects shift from operations to maintenance, ESQ are working with the gas sector to provide an updated spotlight report on the CSG drilling and well servicing sectors to highlight the short term skills requirements. This research will provide an 18 month outlook for skills requirements and the impact on the training sector.
