Condition Assessment of a Large Diameter Metallic Pipeline in a Sewage Environment
Roberto Mascarenhas, Jonathan Farrell
Abstract
Condition and risk assessment is a key factor in Queensland Urban Utilities’ management of its critical assets. This enables selective repair or replacement to extend asset life and defer capital expenditure beyond standard desktop methods. New methods and technologies have emerged that now enable the collection of direct condition data and risk analysis. However, given no one method or technology can be used in every instance, a specific assessment methodology needs to be created on an asset-by-asset basis. Factors that must be reviewd include: asset goal, asset risk, required data, and obstacles. This paper focuses on condition assessment of a large diameter metallic pipeline in a sewage environment.
